2 Ghalion was one of those mares that spent her whole life for breeding.
The mare herself was an extremely outstanding individual. Her special type and beauty reflected the magnificent combination of her pedigree and fulfilled every viewer with admiration -in young age also than in old.
We found this kind and gentle mare in very, very bad condition at a insolvent auction.
The reason we purchased her still in age of 24 was; that this lovely Egyptian mare could finish her life in dignity. We didn’t think one minute to breed with her again. We proudly took care about this special horse in her final days and we never regret this decision. Our goal was, to use the chance to get to know this old great mare -the grandmother and great grandmother our other Egyptian broodmares!

The unforgettable DYSK with Sascha, many years ago at a show in Ströhen/Germany.
By that time Sascha`s arm was broken, but Dysk was so extreme nice that the child could easily handle the horse with the left hand at the show and everywhere. So, they won the class!

In the summer of 1994 six Arabians, including DYSK and ABBAS PASHA I-12 went on a very long tour with their owners.
The three owners of the horses, Sylke, Gerda and Susanne have been friends for a very long time. They had made numerous long distance rides before, and this following nearly two-thousand-kilometre ride was the fulfilment of their dreams.
So they took on a ride, started in Germany, with a route leading through Austria over the Brenner Pass to Italy, and then to France into the Camargue to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Along with the riding horses they also took three hand horses, in order to be able to cover the long distance.
The ride went along mountain paths at a height of up to 2300 m, over endless asphalt roads under a scorching sun, through fantastic mountain landscapes and over sandy beaches.
More than once all participants were pushed to the limits by rocky terrain, swarms of midges, the cold, and extreme heat.
After eight weeks of riding, the group reached their destination.
They rode mostly 4 days and on the fifth day they had a break.
While every rider had two horses so every second day the same horse had to carry the rider and the luggage, the other horse was led than by hand.
In the eighties Sylke and Susanne with their Arabians, including DYSK had made a five-week ride and tested the two-horse-method thoroughly.
They found that every horse needed nearly 14 days to get used to it. In general the problems occur in the first 14 days. Who performs well in the first fortnight, will usually hold out to the end.
"We had so much fun and very exciting days, but also many problems to solve, so that none of us will ever forget these days !
We are honoured to be the owners of such loveable and reliable Arabian horses who finished this challenge”, says Susanne.
